Toyota hybrid could bolster manufacturing sales jobs
One of the world's largest car manufacturers has chosen the UK as a base for the production of its new hybrid vehicle and has given a lift to British manufacturing in the process, according to one senior cabinet member.
The business secretary MP Vince Cable, who spoke at the official launch at the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire, said that the decision from the Japanese manufacturing giant shows that the UK is attractive to companies using sales recruitment.
"Toyota's decision to make Burnaston the only plant in the world to build the hybrid Auris is a strong endorsement of the UK as a manufacturing base for the future," he said.
Katsunori Kojima, managing director of Toyota Manufacturing UK added that the official start of production of the Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive is a proud moment for the company and will give salesmen and women another quality product to sell.
Another car manufacturer which has been providing new products recently is Land Rover which managed to post profits of £32 million after an impressive start to the year.
