Preparation 'the key to success' for job interviews

Sales recruitment hopefuls have been advised to prepare well for job interviews by a star of the BBC's Dragons' Den.

James Caan, an entrepreneur and TV celebrity, told the Daily Telegraph that job hunters need to research the company and also try to find out who is going to be interviewing them prior to the appointment.

"Learn their name, occupation and influence on the business - ask the recruitment consultant, consult the corporate website, look up the prospective employer on social websites such as LinkedIn or even phone the switchboard," he advised.

Mr Caan said that by addressing the interviewer properly and understanding their background, the applicant will appear professional.

Sales recruitment hopefuls also need to prepare answers to every possible question to avoid a situation where they have to think on their feet.

Recently, the Dragons' Den mogul said that the recession has raised the bar for job interviews, leading to increased competition for places.
