Sales recruitment interview questions 'designed to trip people up'

Job hunters have been told that sales recruitment interviews are designed to trip people up, however, practice and preparation can make people shine.

Karen Burns, writing for USNews, said that when an interviewer asks a person to tell them about themselves, they are expecting to hear how that person is ideally suited to the position, rather than some form of a life story.

Responding to the question 'why should I hire you', sales recruitment hopefuls need to impress the interviewer with how much they know about the firm's requirements, describing how they are the best person suited to meet those needs.

"Bottom line: It pays to think through in advance how you would handle some of the more common questions. In general, remember never to badmouth or blame others, especially past employers. Be careful not to betray your nervousness with jittery body language," she added.

Ruth Badger, a former star of The Apprentice TV series, recently told students at the University of Glamorgan about the importance of having a strong, easy-to-read CV.
