Sales jobs: West Midlands is coping well in recession

People looking for sales jobs in the West Midlands are in a region which is coping well during the economic downturn, according to one minister who praised the area's 'can do' spirit.

Energy and Climate Change minister Lord Hunt of Kings Heath said that the region is a good location for green industries and the sector is expected to grow by four per cent in the next year, which could be good news for sales jobs.

Lord Hunt said: "The West Midlands is already taking on the challenge of climate change. Its low carbon sector accounts for some £8.4 billion of the region's economy, comprising 4,179 companies with around 74,000 employees."

He added that as the UK advances as a powerful manufacturer in the green sector the West Midlands will play a key role.

Electronic sales jobs were recently boosted by Nokia as the Swedish company presented its new Booklet 3G netbook, which could require new employees to produce it.
