Appraisals 'help shape perception of managers'
Employees in sales jobs who receive an appraisal are more likely to form positive opinions about their employers and immediate managers, according to a new report.
The research, conducted by human resources service provider Kenexa Research Institute (KRI), showed that job satisfaction increased in workers who had the chance to discuss their role and progress.
People in managerial sales jobs may be interested in the findings, which revealed that employees who have appraisals are more likely to be motivated while at work.
Jack Wiley, executive director of KRI, said: "It's amazing that two-fifths of the world's workforce is not receiving any formal feedback on their job performance and how they are contributing to their employer's success."
He added that job security is also improved in appraised employees at sales jobs and that regular catch-ups show strong leadership and good communication skills.
