Sales manager demand 'remains robust'

The need for sales manager positions is likely to increase further in the current economic climate, it has been claimed.

Research carried out by Hays Contact Centres indicates employers are looking to bolster recruitment through the taking on of performance and workforce managers.

Lorna Shakespeare, senior manager at the company, commented that these specialist skill sets tend to be more difficult to source, play a key role in improving efficiencies and reducing costs and salaries for these positions remain competitive.

She added: "As we see further company restructures, organisations will increasingly focus on process improvements and management of costs. Employers are looking for individuals who can demonstrate significant business re-engineering and change management experience."

Earlier this month, the Chartered Management Institute commented that the government and employers need to think about how skills training can be accommodated in order to improve UK productivity.

The group added that management skills testing remains top of the training list for employers in the UK.
