Sales managers saying 'thank you' less
Research finds sales managers are thanking their staff for the work they have put in less than they used to.
According to Personnel Today, figures from Maritz show 33 per cent of employees believe their bosses have become worse at showing appreciation for good work.
It found 16 per cent have not been thanked in the last year for any additional effort they have put in.
Maritz asked a sample of 1,088 what their opinion of the effect sales managers and others in similar positions saying 'thank you' had on the workplace, the news provider reports.
It found 90 per cent believed it had a 'very positive' or 'positive' impact on employee satisfaction and happiness.
Managing director of the firm Nick Bender claims a visible show of gratitude has a large effect on "the productivity and success of a business".
He says: "Taking the time to say a personal thank you for a job well done costs nothing."
Maritz is a company which intends to improve the performance of businesses by maximising employees' potentials.
