Mechanical engineering 'among top graduate sectors'

A high proportion of male graduates enter jobs in the engineering sector, a new study has found.

In news that may be of interest to people applying for mechanical engineering sales jobs, the UK Graduates Careers Survey for 2008 by High Fliers Research found that the engineering industry is the third most popular destination for male graduates.

Beaten only by investment banking and accountancy for men, the industry may appeal to those looking for sales jobs in London.

The corresponding top three career options for female graduates were found to be teaching, the media and charity or voluntary work, respectively.

He added that there were no signs of a recession, with graduate employment levels broadly reflective of its usual levels.
