Employee benefits 'may retain sales staff'

A good incentives portfolio may help growing businesses to attract and retain skilled employees to sales jobs in London and elsewhere, it has been suggested.

Business Zone reports that there are a number of factors organisations should consider when looking to recruit a dedicated sales team, with good quality benefits named as one way to make your job offer stand out from the crowd.

Such strategies should be as individualised as possible and recognise that not all people in sales jobs are motivated purely by money, with prestige and status also emerging as key drivers.

Malcolm Bond, a reward consultant at employment specialists PES, agrees. "By introducing an element of flexibility with, for example, childcare vouchers or extra holiday days, the positive impact on staff satisfaction and retention can help save money overall."

Boris Johnson, mayor of London, recently announced the city's living wage will rise to £7.45 an hour, in news that may be of interest to companies performing sales recruitment exercises.
